Inter-Library Loan (ILL) Service

🎯 Purpose of Inter-Library Loan

The Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service supports teaching, learning, and research by enabling users to access books and other materials not available in the Library’s own collection through cooperation with other libraries.

👤 Eligibility

ILL services are available to:

  • Faculty members
  • Students
  • University staff

Priority may be given to faculty and research-related requests, subject to availability and lending library policies.

📦 Materials Available Through ILL

 

The following materials may be requested:

  • Books
  • Selected print materials

The following materials are generally not available through ILL, unless explicitly permitted by the lending library:

  • Reference books
  • Course reserve materials
  • Magazines and journals
  • Newspapers
  • Rare, fragile, or special collection items

📝 Request Procedure

  • Users must submit an Inter-Library Loan Request Form with complete and accurate bibliographic details, including:
  • Title
  • Author
  • Edition
  • Publisher
  • Incomplete or incorrect requests may result in delays or rejection of the request.

⏳ Loan Period & Renewal

  • The loan period for ILL materials is determined by the lending library.
  • Borrowers must strictly observe the due date assigned.
  • Renewal requests are:
  • Subject to approval by the lending library
  • Required to be submitted before the due date

📖 Use of ILL Materials

  • ILL materials must be used in accordance with the conditions set by the lending library.
  • Some items may be restricted to in-library use only.
  • Users must not mark, damage, or alter ILL materials in any way.

⚠️ Responsibility of Borrowers

  • Borrowers are fully responsible for the safe handling and timely return of ILL materials.
  • Any loss, damage, or late return may result in:
  • Fines
  • Replacement charges
    as determined by the lending library.

💰 Charges & Penalties

  • Any charges imposed by the lending library, including:
  • Postage or courier fees
  • Service charges
  • Late fines
  • Replacement costs
    will be borne by the requesting user.
  • Failure to comply with ILL policies may lead to temporary or permanent suspension of ILL privileges.

🔁 Return of ILL Materials

  • All ILL materials must be returned to the home library circulation desk.
  • Materials must not be returned directly to the lending library.
  • Late returns may negatively impact future ILL requests.

🏛️ Library Rights

The Library reserves the right to:

  • Approve, limit, or reject ILL requests
  • Apply restrictions based on availability, policy, or misuse

Repeated violations may result in the permanent withdrawal of ILL privileges.
